چکیده

One of the motor reactions commonly involved in the operation of both military and civilian equipment is that of moving a limb (or limbs) as quickly as possible from one position in space to another. Normally, it is desired to terminate the movement at exactly the aimed-for point with a minimum of error and oscillation. The aerial gunner, for example, in tracking a moving target, is often called upon to make quick discrete movements of this sort. Thus when an attacking aircraft is suddenly perceived the guns must be slewed around to the target with the least possible delay. Similarly, during the course of actually tracking the target, observed displacements between the reticle and the target must be quickly and accurately corrected. Previous studies of discrete movements, such as those of Craik (i), Householder (3), and Vince (5), have been oriented rather directly toward the solution of problems arising out of the gunnery tracking situation. In these experiments, the subjects were required to react as quickly as possible, by movements of the hand and arm, to sudden, visually perceived displacements of a target in space. Usually neither the direction in which the movement was to be made nor its

Postnatal development of spatial coding in the gravity sensing system

The critical maturation time of central otolith neurons in processing spatial orientations was examined in Sprague-Dawley rats. With the use of immuno-hybridization histochemical methods, we observed c-fos expression in vestibular nuclear neurons responding to transverse movement on the horizontal plane as early as P7 and those to antero-posterior stimulation as early as P9. In the inferior oli...

The Effect of Fault Plane on the Horizontal In Situ Stresses Orientation: a Case Study in one of Iranian Oilfield

Knowledge of the orientation of horizontal in situ stresses is important to some areas of oil and gas field development plans. Borehole breakouts observed in image logs and drilling-induced fractures are the main parameters for the determination of the stresses’ directions in situ. In this work, the orientations of borehole breakouts were investigated as a function of depth in oil wells A and ...

Optical Imaging of the Motor Cortex in the Brain in Order to Determine the Direction of the Hand Movements Using Functional Near-Infrared Spectroscopy (fNIRS)

Introduction: In recent years, optical imaging has attracted a lot of attention from scholars as a non- aggressive, efficient method for evaluating the activities of the motor cortex in the brain. Functional near-infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS (is a tool showing the hemodynamic changes in a cortical area of the brain according to optical principles. The present study has been de...

Rupture characteristics of the 2012 earthquake doublet in Ahar-Varzagan region using the Empirical Green Function method

On August 11, 2012,within several minutes, two shallow destructive earthquakes with moment magnitudes of 6.5 and 6.4 occurred in Varzagan, Azerbaijan-e-Sharghi Province, in the northwest of Iran In this study, the Empirical Green Function (EGF) method was used for strong ground motion simulationto estimate the source parameters and rupture characteristics of the earthquakes. To simulate the fir...
